Having a job is one of the most important factors in breaking the cycle of re-offending. Offenders find it particularly difficult to find employment and frequently encounter discrimination from employers if they disclose they have a criminal record.
Employment Service PS plus is a service provided in partnership with Norfolk Probation Area and available to offenders currently on Community Orders or released from prison on licence. Employment Service PS plus offers help, motivation and support to offenders to improve their ability to find either employment, take up a voluntary role in the community or to return to further education.
After an initial assessment, carried out to identify what help and support is required, work on a one to one basis will proceed over a number of weeks to enable the offender to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to the local community. This help and support can take various forms including some of the following elements:
- - Job Search
- - Careers guidance
- - Preparing a CV
- - Offence disclosure
- - Interview Skills
- - Communication/Telephone Techniques/Body Language
- - Self-employment
- - Finance
The Employment Service PS plus intervention is available throughout the County of Norfolk with provision available at Move On East in Norwich and Norfolk Probation Area offices in Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn and Thetford.
