Having a job is one of the most important factors in breaking the cycle of re-offending. Offenders find it particularly difficult to find employment and frequently encounter discrimination from employers if they disclose they have a criminal record.
MOVEON east offers help, motivation and support to ex-offenders to improve their ability to find employment, take up a voluntary role in the community or return to further education.
After an initial assessment, carried out to identify what help and support is required, work on a one-to-one basis will proceed over a number of weeks to enable the ex-offender to rebuild their life and contribute positively to the local community. This help and support can take various forms including some of the following elements:
• Preparing a CV
• Job searching
• Careers guidance
• Offence disclosure
• Interview Skills
• Self-employment
• Funding for courses
• Voluntary work / work placements
Our services are available across Norfolk and Suffolk and we currently have offices in Norwich, Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth, Ipswich and Lowestoft.
If you would like to access the support please ask your Probation Officer to refer you for an initial appointment.
Employers – can you help?
MOVEON east seeks support from progressive employers who recognise the importance of reducing re-offending and safeguarding the community.
MOVEON east works with ex-offenders across Norfolk and Suffolk, providing help and support with all aspects of finding work. Many of our clients have good skills and experience, but are finding it hard to regain employment due to an unfortunate mistake that led to offending. It is a proven fact that employment is key to reducing the risk of re-offending and our clients are eager to get the opportunity to work hard and prove themselves, and leave their past behind them.
The benefits to your organisation include access to a skilled and motivated workforce, lower staff turnover and lower recruitment costs. MOVEON east offers a free service to employers where we can identify suitable candidates to fill your vacancies. If you have no current vacancies but would like to offer opportunities to our clients, we could discuss the possibility of organising work placements, which would provide our clients with valuable experience and increase their chance of gaining employment in the future.
